She was the daughter of the late John Nelson Clelland of Amboy, Indiana and Clara L. Troubaugh of Peru, Indiana. She was married to Howard Edward "Eddie" "Shorty" Townsend, of Peru, Indiana. Married November 20, 1953. She leaves behind 9 Townsend children (6 sons and 3 daughters: Michael James , Robin Elaine, Jacqueline Elaine, Howard Nathan, Robert Eugene, Thomas Nelson, Felicia Elaine, Jon Warren, and Edward Dundee. Also, nephew Ross Hartleroad. All of the children are at home in Peru, Indiana. She also Leaves behind a brother, Robert Clelland of Anderson, three sisters: Dorothy Clelland Van Scoy (husband Floyd Van Scoy) of Denver, Mrs. Edward Binion of Logansport, and Mrs Nancy Lauretta Clelland Baker of Crete, Illinois, and one grandchild. She had three children precede her in death: Howard Edward Townsend, Jr. who died at 5 months of age in 1954 due to pneumonia, Clayton Townsend who died shortly after birth, and Penny Townsend, 1971, stillborn.
Elder Reese Clark will conduct the service, and the burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home after 3:00 pm and the body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Her stillborn infant son will be buried with her.
