Ronald was born in Pen Argyl, PA, on April 18, 1944, a son of the late Erwin and Eleanor (Owens) LaBar. He and his beloved wife, the former Bonnie J. Cruver, were married 55 years on Feb. 22.
Ronald was a 1962 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and was employed by Met-Ed for 30 years, working as utility man, trainer and supervisor, retiring in 1999; he later worked as a salesman for Pocono RV Center in Wind Gap, PA, and also drove a school bus for Bangor area school district. He loved to go camping and traveling to Disney World and Maine and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of the First United Evangelical Church, Bangor, and a member for 46 years of the Second Ward Fire Company, serving as assistant chief and captain.
In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by a son, Gregg and his wife, Paula, of Cleveland, OH, and a daughter, Cathy Portz of Winter Garden, FL, and grandchildren, Joseph Uliana Jr., Brent Portz and his wife, Landrie, Sarah Portz, Tim and his wife, Lauren LaBar, and Katie LaBar, and great-grandchildren, Hayden and Logan Uliana, and a brother, Scott and his wife, Jean LaBar, of Bartonsville, PA, and a mother-in-law, Patricia Cruver of Bangor.
Services will be Sunday, May 12, at 1 p.m. in the Fiore Funeral Home, 230 Market Street, Bangor, with Rev. Ron Shipman officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until time of services. The Second Ward Fire Company will be conducting services at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Bangor.
