Mrs. Vera V. Dama, 79, of 450 Monroe St. Galesburg, IL, died at 7:44 PM, Wednesday August 23, 2000 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. She was born on May 28, 1921 in Farmington IL to Orville and Deloris (Thousand) Stevens. She married Frank M. Dama in Galesburg IL on October 21, 1949. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1998. A life long resident of central Illinois she lived in Yates City, Abingdon, Delong and Galesburg. She was a graduate of Yates City High School. She worked at the former Galesburg Mental Health Center for 11 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She served as President and Vice President of the Galesburg Senior Citizens Club two times each. She was also a member of O.A.K.S., the former Newman Community Center and A.F.S.M.E. Two daughters, Grace Dama of Nevada and Cynthia Spry of Galesburg; one son, Roger McGee of Wichita Falls, TX; one brother, Reece Jones of Abingdon, IL; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister.
Graveside services were held at 11:30 AM Saturday August 26, 2000 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg, with the Rev. Jeff Barclay, of the Church of God, officiating.
