MATTOON -- The funeral for Mary Catherine Gates was Wednesday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Stephens officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. The pianist, Nancy Schilling, accompanied the soloist, Rex Cooper, in singing "In The Garden" and "Amazing Grace." She also played "How Great Thou Art," "What A Day That Will Be," and "His Eye Is On The Sparrow." The pallbearers were Jamie Johnson, Nic and Jake Gates, Danny Wildman, Toby Ferris, and Gary Freeman. Mrs. Gates, 84, of Mattoon, died Jan. 8, 2006, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
