She was born in Lancaster, Aug. 31, 1922, to Michael B. and Thelma (Morse) Murphy.

She had lived in Lancaster until 1999 and had been a resident of Nashua for the past nine years.

She graduated from Lancaster Academy and Becker Junior College in Worcester, Mass.

She was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II, stationed in Washington, D. C. as a yeoman first class.

She was a homemaker and a self-employed real estate agent in the Lancaster area and she had the distinction of being one of the first women to serve on the New Hampshire Real Estate Commission.

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Fred B. Bowles in January 2002.
