Roy Steve Sigmon 72 of Hickory died Friday, January 5th, 2018 at Charles George VA Medical Center.

Born August 18th, 1945 he was the son of the late Roy Sigmon and Ruby Cooke. A 101st Airborne Vietnam Veteran, he received two purple hearts. He was a member of A Place to Talk Church in Brookford.

His companion of 32 years, Thelma Shoup of Hickory; a daughter, Stephanie J. Gilleland and husband John of Wilmington; two sons, Roy Steve Sigmon ll of San Antonio, TX and Jason Sigmon and wife Christine of Claremont; a step son, Buddy Shoup; eight grandchildren, Michelle Corona and husband Victor, Nathan and Zachary Shook, Gage and Aiden Sigmon, Cole and Jackson Kinney, Jackson Sigmon and two great grandchildren, Kelly and Michael Cline survive him.

A step-daughter, Elizabeth Dianne Rust, a sister, Sandra Kay Shrum preceded him in death.

The funeral will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, January 9th, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Nathan Yoder officiating. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery, with graveside rites provided by Caldwell County Honor Guard and U.S. Army.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm Tuesday, January 9th, 2018 at the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.
