Born March 29, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Roy William Sigmon and Ruby Cook Sigmon.
A devout Christian, she was known for being patient and graceful in all situations. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Her biggest passions were spending time and traveling with her daughters, reading and pet-sitting her granddogs, Magnolia, Gracie and Kaitlyn of Catawba; and her grandcats, Elly and Tortellini of Cary. She appreciated everything in nature and loved to take photos of everything from the tallest tree to the smallest wildflowers.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Ly and husband, Randy of Catawba, and Megan Kay Shrum and husband, David Meyer of Cary; the children's father, Jerry Shrum and wife, Ann of Lincolnton; a brother, Roy Steve Sigmon and Thelma Shoup of Hickory; a grandson, Dexter Ly; and her best friend, Sybil Hughey and husband, Johnny.
The celebration of Sandy's life will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, May 19, at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Ed Yount officiating. Burial will be private at Jenkins Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the ceremony.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Catawba regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658; or the Baptist Children's Homes of NC, 204 Idol St., Thomasville, NC 27360.
