Television Personality. She was best known as the host of the popular public broadcasting television show "Sewing With Nancy" which ran from 1982 to 2017. Her early occupations included working for a national sewing store in Chicago and as a sewing instructor in Minnesota. She started her own business, Nancy's Notions, a company dealing with sewing notions, supplies, and accessories in 1979 and ran it until it was sold to Tacony Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri in 2003. She started hosting a sewing program "Sewing With Nancy" on Wisconsin Public Television in 1982 and continued with it until retiring in September of 2017. She was also an executive producer of the show, which grew in popularity and was seen on 233 public television stations in 137 markets across 41 states. It was the longest-running sewing show in television history. She wrote many books on sewing and hosted a popular sewing expo in Madison, Wisconsin, every year. She was affected by Bell's palsy, which left part of her face paralyzed. In 2015, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer. A year later, she announced that she was successfully treated, but the following year the cancer had spread to other areas. On September 2, 2017, she announced her retirement from the show.
