Kent Daniel Jones Sr. of Hermitage, formerly of New Buffalo, Mich., passed away at 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, in his home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was 52. Mr. Jones was born Oct. 26, 1959, in Michigan City, Ind., to Gerald “Casey” Jones Jr. and Dorothy Paszkienicz Jones. He was educated at New Buffalo (Mich.) High School, New Buffalo. Kent was a self-employed house painter in the Shenango Valley, and prior to that in Michigan City, for 25 years. An Army veteran, he received an Army Commendation Medal during peacetime. As a big outdoorsman, Kent loved to fish, hunt and ride his ATV and motorcycle. Most of all, he loved being with his family. His wife, the former Laura Maskrey, whom he married Sept. 17, 1980, in Leesville, La., survives at home. Also surviving are: two daughters, Sherry Jones, Hermitage; and Dawn Ligda and her husband Jim, Michigan City; two sons, Kent Jones II and his wife Melissa, Hermitage; and Darrin Jones, Trail Creek, Ind.; his mother, Dorothy White and her husband Herb, Three Oaks, Mich.; two sisters, Janice Richards and her husband Denny; and Jill Gorbenosenko, all New Buffalo; a brother, Kevin Jones and his wife Melissa, Three Oaks; and his grandchildren, Kent Jones III, Hermitage; Logan Corbin, Michigan City; and Ryan Leedham, Hermitage. Kent was preceded in n death by his father.
