was born in Davis County, Iowa, October 20, 1856. He is a son of John and Winford (Noon) Doyle, both natives of Ireland, who after being married in that country emigrated to America in 1847, and settled in Iowa. In 1858, John Doyle died, and his son, George W., was reared on a farm by his mother and stepfather, Dabney Bowen. In the year 1865, he moved to Platte County, Missouri, where he remained upon a farm with his parents until of age. He received the advantages of a good common school education in Davis County, Iowa, and in Platte County, Missouri. In June, 1877, he was graduated from the Warrensburg State Normal School, after which he taught several terms in Platte County, Missouri. Not being satisfied with teaching as his vocation for life, he chose the medical profession, and read medicine for about a year under the instruction of Dr. E. McD. Coffey, at Platte City, Missouri. He afterwards attended two terms at the Jefferson Medical College, at Philadelphia, from which institution he was graduated in March, 1881. Immediately after this, Dr. Doyle returned to Missouri, and located in Albany, where he has since resided. Few young practitioners have met with such encouraging results as has been the lot of the subject of this sketch for the past eighteen months, and he is thoroughly deserving of his success.

He married in 1883 to Mary Zoll, daughter of William and Sarah Martha (Alderson) Zoll. They were the parents of four children, Sarah Winifred "Hassie", Georgia, John and an infant.
Son John's biography, found in "The History of Daviess and Gentry counties, Missouri" publ. in 1922, states in part:
"[John R. Doyle] was born in Albany, Oct. 18, 1893, the son of Dr. G. W. and Mary (Zoll) Doyle.
G. W. Doyle was born in Illinois in 1851 [sic-other sources say 1856-KD]. He received his education at the Central Missouri State Teachers College at Warrensburg and Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia from which he graduated in 1881. He located at Albany where he continued to practice medicine for more than 27 years and where he was widely known both in his professional capacity and as a private citizen. Dr. Doyle was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Modern Woodmen of America, and the Yeoman lodges. He died at Albany, Dec. 15, 1908 and his remains are buried in Highland Cemetery. His widow, Mary (Zoll) Doyle, continued to reside at Albany until her marriage, Aug. 12, 1921, to Judge Milton Remley, of Iowa City, Iowa. Judge Remley is a prominent man of Iowa, where he has served three terms as the State Attorney General."
NOTE: Biography says he died 15 Dec 1908 while headstone has 16 Dec 1908. I do not have his death certificate to determine which is correct. -- K. DaPra
