"The Death of Mrs. Ellen H. Ford.

We regret to announce the death which occurred in Philadelphia on Nov. 2d, 1892, of Mrs. Ellen H. Ford, the widow of the late Washington Ford, at the age of sixty-six years. Mrs. Ford was a native of this county, and resided here for many years before her removal to Philadelphia, where her demise occurred. She left a number of relatives as well as many friends in Natchez to mourn her death, and to these we tender our heartiest condolence."

"The Death of Mrs. Ellen H. Ford," /Weekly Democrat/, Natchez, Mississippi, 9 November 1892, page [5], col. 1.

For Ellen's death, see "Adams County Sexton Records," /Adams County, Mississippi, Genealogical and Historical Research/ (http://www.natchezbelle.org/adams-ind/sexton.htm), entry for Mrs. Ellen Ford, 8 November 1892.

Notes:

Ellen's surname is sometimes spelled "Winn."

Sources suggest that Ellen was born between 1824 and 1826. Her death certificate lists no birth date, but reports that she was sixty-seven years old at her death on 2 November 1892, suggesting a birth year of 1824 or 1825 (depending on the month of her birth). Her obituary reports that she was sixty-six years old at her death, suggesting a birth year of 1825 or 1826. Neither Adams County nor the state of Mississippi registered births in the 1820s. No baptismal record that might have noted her birthdate has been found.

Mrs. Ford's grave is unmarked, as is her husband's.
