John O. Broom, 37, of 3804 Abingdon Rd., died at 2 p.m. Friday at Columbia Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Richland County, son of the late Ross E. Broom Sr. and Janie Monts Broom. He was a salesman for Royal Crown Bottling Company, and was a member of St. Marks Methodist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Frances P. Broom; one son, John Gregory Broom of Columbia; three sisters, Mrs. Nanette Wall, Mrs. Barbara Clark and Mrs. Hazel Phipps of Columbia, and one brother, Ross E. Broom Jr. of Columbia.
Funeral plans are incomplete. The family will be at 615 Oakland Avenue, and friends may call at Paschal Funeral Home.
