Stephen Duane Jensen, 74, of Rigby, passed away May 3, 2017, at his home.

Steve was born March 24, 1943, in Nyssa, Oregon, to George Leonard Jensen and Alice Gayle Fife Jensen. The family moved to Idaho Falls in 1945, where he attended schools and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He served as a missionary in the England Southwest British Mission. Following his mission he attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho.

On March 27, 1967, he married Dixie Lynn Yates in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were born four children: Gregory, Todd, Terrisa, and Jana. They made their home in Southeast Idaho until 1980 when they moved to Seattle, Washington. While working full-time and supporting his family, Steve attended school on nights and weekends and graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He worked for the State of Washington Department of Health and Welfare.

He took an early retirement in 1993 and moved back to Idaho. In 1995, he moved to Provo, Utah where he worked as a Child Support Enforcement Officer for the State of Utah’s Department of Health and Welfare. In 2010, he retired and moved back to Idaho.

On November 24, 2010, he married Marilyn Taylor Virgin in Idaho Falls. They made their home in Grant, Idaho and spent many wonderful moments together loving life and traveling. Throughout his life he enjoyed competing in sports at every level including basketball, softball, motorcycle racing and golf.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Jensen of Rigby, ID; son, Gregory S. (Aseneth) Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Todd D. Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Terrisa (Jayson) Peterson of Ammon, ID; daughter, Jana Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID; stepson, Lane D. Virgin of Idaho Falls, ID; stepdaughter, Colleen Erickson of Island Park, ID;
stepson, Lex A. Virgin of Idaho Falls, ID; stepdaughter, Jenny (Micah) Johnson of Boise, ID; sister, Elaine Kissner of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, Rodger (Carol) Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Michael (Becky) Jensen of Page, AZ; brother, Jeff (Michelle) Jensen of Kanab, UT; 15 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gene Jensen; and a sister, Cheryl Storrs.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 8, 2017, at the Grant LDS 2nd Ward, 3431 East 100 North, with President Rulon Cook officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30-8 pm on Sunday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Monday from 10-10:45 am prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Grant-Central Cemetery.
