James and Sarah Jane Snyder Dickinson had traveled to Salt Lake City to visit Sarah Jane's parents (Samuel and Henrietta Snyder). Just before the birth of their 5th child, Samuel Gideon, Sarah Jane met with an accident and had three ribs broken and was hurt badly and the baby was born a month premature. The baby seemed to do well, however on April 9th he died due to a bowel inflammation.
