Southern Aegis, May 11, 1881: Died on May 4, 1881, Mrs. Elizabeth Phillips, at her residence four miles from Ashville, age 53 years. The deceased was the wife of Mr. James Philips, and belonged to two of the most respected and influential families in the county, being the daughter of the late J.W. Yarbrough and her numerous relatives are not confined to this county, but are among the most prosperous families of the west. An exemplary Christian, a devoted wife and an affectionate mother, the deceased leaves a host of friends, besides numerous relatives to grieve at her loss. She died suddenly from heart disease. We deeply sympathize with the bereaved husband and family.
