Helena "Helen" Raykie Perfilio, Bellingham, formerly of the Shenango Valley, died Feb. 8, 2001, in her home after a brief illness. She was 78.

Mrs. Perfilio was born June 13, 1922, in Sharon to Charles and Elizabeth Nemeth Raykie.

A homemaker, she married Samuel Perfilio May 10, 1943.

Mrs. Perfilio spent most of her life in the Shenango Valley, moving to Washington a few years ago to be nearer to her children and grandchildren.

She enjoyed going to garage sales, playing cards and working crossword puzzles.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Roxanne) Melland and Paula Perfilio, both Bellingham; a son, Samuel Perfilio; a sister, Irene Racketa, Hermitage; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her husband and best friend, Sam, preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1992.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Elizabeth Raykie, Mrs. Andrew (Mary) Ishley, Mrs. Edward (Rose) Gladysz and Mrs. Steve (Margaret) Klapach; two brothers, James Alec Raykie and Joseph Raykie; and an uncle, Martin Dilk.

A memorial service was held in Bellingham by her children.
