Carmella "Kay" (Galinelli) Gemma, 80, longtime resident of Miles Avenue, Middletown, formerly of Warren, R.I., died on June 8, 2009. Born on July 15, 1928, to the late Rocco and Annunziata (Andreozzi) Galinelli, of Warren, R.I. She was the wife of the late Anthony Enrico Gemma and mother of the late Anthony Thomas Gemma. She was the owner and proprietor of Campus Book Center, in Middletown. She enjoyed poetry, art and music. Gardening was her passion.
She is survived by daughter Kathleen Gemma. She was the loving grandmother to Marcos and Antonio Gemma More of Tullahoma, Tenn. She also leaves two brothers, Joseph Galinelli of Barrington, R.I. and John Galinelli of Warren, R.I.; many nieces, nephews and special friend, Mrs. Isabell Russo. She was the sister of the late Madeline Vandeschaff, Violanda Raposa, Mary Grant, Margaret Silva, Albert, Guido, Thomas, James and Peter Galinelli.
Services will be held at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, on Friday, June 12, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Flower donations are welcome.
