Donald E. Thompson, Sr., age 55 of Knoxville passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, January 17, 2016. He had been an employee with the Knox County Highway Department as a Roads Supervisor for 20 plus years. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1560, and Grande Lodge Free and Accepted Mason member (Cherokee Lodge #728). He was a graduate of Gibbs High School.

Preceded in death by parents, Charles E. Thompson and Betty Sue Harrison Lindsey; and grandmother, Gladys Harrison Weaver. He is survived by his loving son, Donald E. Thompson, Jr. (DJ); brothers, Danny Harrison (Lisa), David Harrison (Andrea); nephews, Jason Harrison, Shane Harrison (Carrie); niece, Brianna Harrison; aunt, Mary Lou Ingles; uncle, Tony Harrison (Peggy); and many loving cousins and friends.

Family and friends will gather 10:45 AM on Friday, January 22, 2016, at Asbury Cemetery, 5100 Asbury Cemetery Rd, Knoxville, TN 37914, for an 11:00 AM graveside service with Pastor Jeff LaBorg officiating. Pallbearers: Jason Harrison, Jerry Hammer, Joe Keck, Buddy Loy, Duane Hicks, and Jerry Hammer II. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 865-523-4999.
