J.R. Denton, 83, died at his home in Lawson on Monday. He had been in poor health for some time. He was born in Tennessee March 28, 1869.
He was married to Miss Julia Nolker of Lawson in 1900.
He was a member of the Christian Union church.
He was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Julia Denton, of the home; one son, Alva Denton of Lawson, MO; one daughter, Opal Cooper of Great Bend, KS; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie James of Excelsior Springs, MO; Mrs. Rhoda Merryman of Oakland, CA; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at the Christian Union Church, east of Lawson, this afternoon. The Rev. Hodge Butterfield officiated. Burial was in Union Cemetery. Jarman-Prichard Funeral Home was in charge.
