The first Canadian resident to embrace the Bahá'í Faith along with several other women in her family, her mother Esther, her sister Harriet and two of her aunts.

Her husband was a noted journalist with many political connections and they lived in New York, where she marched for women's rights.

Edith and her family spent many years attending events at Green Acre Baha'i School in Eliot, Maine. Her son Edward Inglis was born June 10, 1913.

She and her husband met Abdu'l-Baha during his visit to America in 1912 and her family received several letters from him over the years.
