Pioneer Jewish leader in Los Angeles, he was known as the founder of the Jewish Home For The Aging, and served as it's first President. A building contractor, he headed the institution for 10 years and remained on the Board of Directors throughout his life and active on it committees. He was a founder of the Nathan Straus Israel Society and a organizer of the Jewish Free Burial Society. Also active in Zionist organizations and the Jewish National Fund. He lived in Los Angeles for 52 years. The Home is one of the largest residential care facilities in the U.S.
