James Buford Thornton, 81, of Tallassee, died March 3, 2014, at Community Hospital in Tallassee. Graveside services were held March 5, 2014, at Roxana Methodist Church at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. David Waldrop officiating. Visitation will be at Roxana Methodist Church at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service. Mr. Thornton is survived by his children Mike Thornton, Jimmy Thornton, Jan (Tim) Bianchi, and David (Cynthia) Thornton; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and his sister Louise (Willie Joe) Baker. He was preceded in death by his wife Syble Thornton, his daughter Cathy Webster and his parents James Monroe and Selma Fannie Thornton.
