Mrs Elizabeth Gore, widow of the late Samuel Gore, died at her home in Carmichaels Saturday, July 6th in her 81st year. Interment July 8. The religious services were conducted by her pastor, Rev H M Whatley, assisted by Rev W G Gibson. Mrs Gore's maiden name was Gwynn, was connected with one of the oldest and best families in this part of the county, but it is of her christian life we wish to speak as but few have such a record as her. On July 2, 1833, she united with the C P church of Carmichaels. She was ever faithful and diligent in her Father's business, and when the weight of four score years rested upon her, and snowy hair crowned her head, her seat was seldom vacany in the Sabbath School, the prayer meeting or the public means of grace, while the Woman's Missionary Society, of which she was a charter member, will now miss the presence, sympathy and earnest prayers, of one who for 62 years was a quiet, humble and devoted follower of the Savior. One brother, Mr. John Gwynn, two sisters, Margaret and Martha, and one daughter, Mrs. Richard Worthington, all of Carmichaels, are left to mourn the absence of one who is not lost to them "only gone before....."
