After retiring to Catawba County, NC, Pat worked part time with the Catawba County Council on Aging. As a breast cancer survivor, Pat volunteered at the resource center at Catawba Valley Medical Center, for Susan G. Komen Foothills Race for the Cure, for the American Cancer Society and for Catawba County Breast Cancer Coaltion, the American Red Cross, the Armed Forces Emrgency Services and the Catawba AARP. One of her best-known accomplishments was helping to start the Catawba County Wig Bank.
She was survived by a brother, three sisters, and a number of nieces and nephews.
