SHELBY- Bonnie Mae Jones, 90, of 206 Beaver Dam Drive, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, with her only son and family by her side, at Wendover Hospice. A native of Gwinnett County, Ga, she was born Sept. 5, 1924, daughter of the late Jacob Brackney and Mary Jane Brown Ashley.
She was a lifetime member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class and the Joy Group. During her time at Beaver Dam, she was involved in many ministries, including working in the nursery for many years and WMU, just to name a few. She retired from Lily Mills after working there for 41 years. She was a devoted and loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a hard working woman, a great cook and loved flowers. She loved working in her garden, freezing and canning food. If she knew anyone in need, she was the first to meet the need in any way she could.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John "JD" David Jones; one sister, Frankie A Patrick; infant brother, Jimmy Ashley; brother-in-laws, Charles Patrick, Henry Clary, Ed Arrowood, Clement Canipe, and Norel Ware.
She is survived by one son, three sisters, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, with Rev. Jimmy Black, Dr. Paul Sorrells, Rev. Phil Hughes and Dr. Robert Canoy officiating.
Burial will be at the church cemetery.
