Frank is the son of Ella Lucy (Robinson) and Stephen Reuben Washburn. His father died in Minneapolis when Frank was about 2 1/2 years old and his mother moved the family back to Independence, Buchanan Co., Iowa to be near family. He was in the 49th Iowa Inf. Co. E and 30th US Inf. Co. C during the Spanish American War. He married Edith May Williams 15 Jan 1904 in Moline, Rock Island Co., Illinois and they had eight children: Wallace, Nina, Raymond, Frances, Harold, Steven, Keith and another child who died in infancy. Frank and Edith are my great grandparents.
