OBITUARY - Standard Speaker, Hazleton, Pennsylvania 16 August 1991 Friday

Betty M. Lanning, 89, of RR 1, White Haven, died Thursday morning at the Wyoming Valley Health Care Center, Plains, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Anna (Mabel) Mowrer, and had resided in the White Haven area for the past 25 years.

Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Philadelphia School Board as a house parent.

She was a member of the White Haven United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death, in addition to both parents, were her husband, Carl, who died in 1982; a son: Veryl; and brothers: Donald and Veryl.

Surviving are daughters: Mrs. Kenneth (Eleanor) Earnhart, White Haven; Mrs. G. Douglas (Joan) McClellan, Philadelphia; two brothers: Charles Mowrer, Wilkes-Barre; and Hiram Mowrer Jr., Sugar Notch; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. from the White Haven United Methodist Church, Buffalo Street, White Haven. The Rev. Milton Hartenstine will officiate. Interment will be in the Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the McHugh-Wilczek Funeral Home, Freeland.
