In the same issue on page 3, in the "local intelligence" column the following 2 notices appear:

"Missing -- Peter Dolan, who has been residing at Corte Madera for the past ten or twelve years, has been missing since the 28th ultimo, and fears are entertained that he has been drowned. It appears that on the night of the date above mentioned he was at the drinking saloon of George Borrosey at Ross' Landing in a state of extreme intoxication, and was put out of the house about midnight in the company with one or two others, since which time nothing has been heard of him. His hat was found near the bridge at the Landing, and his horse tied to a fence close by. It is supposed that after leaving Borrosey's he attempted to cross the bridge and fell into the creek and was drowned. Search has been made for the body but no trace of it has been found."

"Reward -- A reward of fifty dollars is offerred for the recovery of the body of Peter Dolan who is supposed to have been drowned in the Corte Madera creek at Ross Landing on the night of the 28th ultimo. See advertisement."

An advertisement for Borrosey's reads as follows:

"George Borrosey,
Store and Restaurant,
Ross' Landing
Meals at all hours
The subscriber has added a restaurant and
lodging house to his store, and requests a
share of the public patronage."

From the Marin County Journal, Mar 23, 1867:

"Found -- The body of Peter Dolan, who so suddenly disappeared on the 28th ult., was found in the Corte Madera creek near the Powder Magazine on Thursday of last week. It was discovered by Wm. Richardson. The upper part of the face was considerably bruised, and it was thought by some that deceased had been the victim of foul play, which idea was however dispelled upon examination of the body by Dr Talliaferro. The remains were brought to this place [San Rafael] on the 15th instant and interred in the Public Cemetery."
