Thomas Voyles Dies At Age 83; Rites Thursday
Thomas Cavin Voyles, 83, of 2302 Jones, died at 1:20 p.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Myers chapel. The Rev. William Pribble will officiate and burial will be in Kirk cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers chapel where friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Voyles was born Dec. 24, 1886, in Bluford. He was married to Nettie Tolley in Nov., 1916. She preceded him in death in 1957. He was married to Edna Rice in June, 1967. She survives.
Mr. Voyles was a member of the Southside Missionary Baptist church. Other survivors include one son. Leroy Voyles, of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Mrs. James Terry, of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Retha Shields, of Dixon, Ill., and Mrs. Doris Bayne, of Tucson, Ariz.; three step-sons, William Seidehstricker of Ashley, Roy Seidenstricker of St. Louis, Mo., and Arthur Seidenstricker of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one step-daughter, Mrs. Lena Randolph of St. Louis, Mo.; 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
