Augustus Rankins
Mr. Augustus Rankins, age 62, passed way Saturday, April 12, 2014 at West Gate Village in Brewton, Ala. He was born to the late James and Ruthie Rankins in Conecuh County, Ala. He was a 1970 graduate from Repton High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He attended Larkins Business School as well as Reid State Technical College. He participated with the Civil Rights Activist Movement.

He was preceded in death by four siblings, Verdell Thomas McClammy, Jesse James Rankins, Lee L. Rudolph and James Rankins Sr.

Mr. Rankins is survived by two daughters, Philana (Keith) Barksdale of Brewton, Ala. and Pascha L. Rankins of Atlanta, Ga.; one son, Morio (Monicia) Rankins of Riverdale, Ga.; six grandchildren, Quantae Barksday, Keith Barksdale II, Lyberti Bradley, Moriana Rankins, Moriyah Rankins and Khalil Clark; special son, Augustus Stanton; special devoted friend, Alice Nettles; two sisters, Roxie (Arthur) Hall and Lexsana Ranks Dailey, both of Belleville, Ala.; one aunt, Eunice White Of Belleville; special niece, Sherly Stanton Gray; two special friends, William Sutton and Billy Barksdale and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held at Belleville Missionary Baptist Church Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Pastor James E. Stanton, officiating.

Interment followed Belleville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers and flower bearers were his nephews and nieces.

Christian Memorial Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
