Margaret Rebecca White Barnes, 95, Lexington Park, MD

Margaret Rebecca White Barnes, 95, Lexington Park, MD Margaret Rebecca White Barnes departed life peacefully on October 19, 2013 at her home in Lexington Park, Maryland. Margaret was born March 12, 1918 to the late Helen E. Handy White and Calip D. White. She was the mother of twelve children, leaving five sons and five daughters to cherish her memory: James H. Bryan (twin), Honas S. Bryan, Harry W. Bryan, Leroy A. Bryan, Lesley A. Bryan, Sophia M. Townsend, Grace E. Taylor, Hazel R. B. Hutcherson, Pamela E. Roach and Nola M. Bryan.
Margaret was a lifetime member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she attended until her health failed. Margaret was born and raised in Scotland, Maryland. She was educated at The Little School House in Scotland, Md. Margaret loved singing in the choir and she did domestic work for over 50 years. In her spare time she would collect her plants which meant so much to her and she would often talk about her best friend, Beatrice Smith, reminiscing of how they always played together. She loved watching the Redskins, shopping and watching western movies. The Young and The Restless was her favorite daytime show, buying a plant every month and collecting knick knacks.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Jasper R. Bryan (twin) and Valerie G. Bryan; four sisters, Lillian Dove, Lena Gough, Patsy White, Hilda White; two brothers, Sidney White and Howard Shorter; one nephew, Mervin S. White Sr.; son-in-law, Kenneth Townsend and two daughters-in-law, Diane Bryan and Carmel Bryan.
In addition to her children, Margaret leaves to cherish her memories, two brothers, Preston White and Francis White and one sister, Virginia D. White; 47 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, three sons-in-law, Leonard Taylor, Dennis Hutcherson and Christopher Roach Sr. and three daughters-in-law, Marilyn Bryan, Linda Bryan and Rita Bryan.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 26. 2013 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 12880 Point Lookout Road, Scotland, MD. Interment to follow at the church cemetery.
