San Diego, CA - Carl Dumler, 72, died Monday, July 6 (1987) in San Diego, CA. His funeral was July 8 at Mt. Hope Cemetery with the Greenwood Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Dumler was born Dec. 3, 1914 in Russell, to Mr. and Mrs. George B. Dumler. He was a pitcher for several years for the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1940s and from 1946-1949 he was a pitcher for the San Diego Padres. He lived in San Diego for the past 40 years and worked as a finish carpenter.
Survivors are: two sons, Carl of Oregon; and Michael, of Bristish Columbia; and one daughter, Sue Smith of Escondido, CA. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Ed and Rudy both of Russell, and Albert of San Diego; and five sisters, Mary Maier, Julia Rogg, Elizabeth Mohl, Pauline Dumler, and Grace Wilkerson, all of Russell.
