Born Sept. 8, 1882, in Elliott County, Ky., he was a son of James and Nan Thornsberry Johnson.
Surviving are his wife, Maude Porter Johnson, four daughters, Mrs. Edna McPhee of Lynchburg, Va., Mrs. Talva Heiss of Chillicothe, Mrs. Stella Green of Franklin Furnace, Mrs. Flora Borsheim of Lynchburg; seven sons, Hershell, Stearl and Columbus, all of Chillicothe, Arlie and Elza Jr., both of Franklin Furnace, Russell of Logan, W. Va., Amos of Ironton; three brothers, Walter of Ashland, Ky., James of Elliott County, Ky. and Norman of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a son, three sisters, three brothers, and four grandchildren.
A retired farmer, Mr. Johnson was a member of Ohio Valley United Baptist Church.
Funeral services are to be at 3 p.m. Friday at Ginats Creek Christian Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Jordan officiating. Burial is to be in Junior Furnace Cemetery under direction of Harrison Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the residence at Franklin Furnace.
