Florence Schade Burkart, 80, of state Highway 29 died Wednesday in the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.
Mrs. Burkart was born in Albany, where she was a graduate of Albany High School and Albany Business College. She lived most of her life in Albany and Cedar Hill and was a summer resident of Caroga Lake for 25 years. She has lived in Fulton County since 1973.
She was a secretary from 1936-46 for the Department of Public Works in Albany.
She was active in several scouting organizations.
Survivors include her husband, Charles William Burkart, Sr.; two daughters, Shirley Mounsey of Newnan, Georgia and Sara Ann (Sally) Burkart of Gloversville; and one son, Robert G. Burkart and his wife Robin of Mayfield.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A son, Col. Charles W. Burkart Jr. was declared missing in action in Vietnam in 1966.
She was also predeceased by a grandson, Robert G. Burkart Jr.
