TEXAS CITY - Elder Goye Johnson, 72, died Tuesday morning at Mainland Center Hospital after a brief illness. A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mainland Funeral Home in La Marque. Services will be Saturday at ll a.m. at the Macedonia Pentecostal Church, Texas City, Bishop R.A. Walls and District Elder Clarence Stewart officiating.

Burial will be at Mainland Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock following the service.

Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 25, 1913 in Marshall, Texas. He served as pastor of the Macedonia Pentecostal Church in Texas City.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Johnson, of Texas City;two daughters, Jean Simpson of League City and Patricia Johnson of Texas City; one sister, Jessie B. Martin of La Marque; one brother, Cornell Stinson of Santa Anna, Calif.; five grandchildren; and other relatives.

Visitors may call after 1 p.m Friday at the funeral home.

Fellow ministers and pastors will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be sent to Mainland Funeral Home in La Marque.
