Mrs. Johnston was born in Hares Valley, August 1, 1873, a daughter of Samuel and Caroline (Dell) Bowman, both deceased. Her early life was spent in Hares valley, but for the past few years she has resided in Pittsburgh and Jeannette. She was loved by all in the community where she resided, being of a kind and loving disposition and always ready to help in time of need. She was a member of the Grace Reformed church of Jeannette.
Surviving are her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Elsie (Wilmore) Yarnell, and two grandchildren, of Jeannette. Two sisters and three brothers also survive, namely, Mrs. Hannah Chilcote and Anderson Bowman, both of Jeannette; Mrs. Mary Gill, of Blairsville; Isaac Bowman and Larry Bowman, both of Hares Valley.
Short funeral services were held Saturday evening at he late home. On Sunday morning the cortege came by automobile from Jeannette to Bowman's Chapel in Smith valley where further services were conducted at 1:30 o'clock by Rev. L.C. McHenry of Three Springs. Interment was made in the Bowman's Chapel cemetery.
