Minnie was the daughter of James Ellsworth Nichols and Martha Elsie Derthick. She married Charles August Rosenfeld on June 24, 1912, and they had three children before divorcing.

Minnie married Jack Courtright sometime between 1918 and 1927, and moved to Carson City, Nevada. There they conducted the Old Home Lodge for several years.

Although she had no children with Jack, those from her marriage to Charles Rosenfeld began using Jack's surname, and at least two of them (Leslie and Thelma) were known as Courtright for the rest of their lives.

Two of Minnie's children predeceased her. Leslie Charles died December 14, 1989 in Reno, Nevada, and Thelma May died June 24, 1984 in Carson City. Elsie Merle (married name Frugoli) died nine months and one day after her mother, on September 2, 1997 in Reno.
