FIELDALE - Joe Dillard Joyce, Sr., age 85, formerly of 10th St., Fieldale, died Wednesday in Burrell Home for Adults, Roanoke. He was born in the Spencer section of Henry Co., June 27, 1906, a son of the late Samuel Joyce and Allice Pritchett Joyce. Mr. Joyce was retired from Fieldcrest Mills with nearly 40 years of service. He was formerly a member of the Fieldale Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Fieldale Baptist Church. He was predeceased by a son, Joe D. Joyce, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Frith Joyce, Stanleytown Nursing Center, Bassett; daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Shirley) Thomasson, Pensacola, Fla.; Mrs. Floyd (Judy) Wyatt, Collinsville; son, D. Michael Joyce, Roanoke; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m. at McKee Funeral Chapel, Martinsville, with Rev. Richard Harrison officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at McKee Funeral Home.
