Benjamin Randolph "Ranny" White, 77, of Wytheville, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, in the Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 25, at 11 a.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel in Wytheville, with Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Interment followed in the West End Cemetery, Wytheville. Graveside military rites were conducted by American Legion Post No. 9.

He worked as district circulation manager for the Roanoke Times for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Danner White; his parents, Benjamin Harrison and Amanda Chitwood White; and a brother, Raymond H. White.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Brenda White of Richmond, and Jim and Kim White of Raleigh, N.C.; two grandchildren, Dawn White of Richmond, and Emilyn White of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Virginia Taylor of Max Meadows, and Aileen Pike of Norfolk; two brothers, Jimmy White and Troy White, both of Roanoke,

The family received friends Sunday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home.

Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
