His specialty was bridges and he also built bridges with people learning their language and being able to greet them in their language. Dr. Alexis Ostapenko has published over 33 works in over 40 publications, over 50 library holdings.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene Ostapenko. Loving father of Alexander (Barbara) Ostapenko, Nadine Bolkhovitinov (Mikhail) and Peter Ostapenko. Also survived by four grandchildren, Lyuba, Andrew, Tanya and Mark.
Services: Friends may call at St. Nicholas Cathedral, 3500 Massachusetts Ave., N.W. on Thursday, September 29 from 10am until time of service at 10:30 am. Interment Rock Creek Cemetery.
