Andrew Carruthers Chapter NSDAR was named in recognition of Andrew Carruther's and his service at the Battle of King's Mountain.
The chapter was organized November 3rd, 1909 by Mrs. Neil Carothers on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin where in her words "The object of this Chapter shall be to encourage patriotism and the advancement of the best interest of our country. The ultimate object shall be the establishment of a D.A.R. scholarship for girls in the University of Texas".
Today, Andrew Carruthers has over 250 members ranging from 18-95. Our members live in and around the Austin and area drawn to serving others through Education, Patriotism and Historic Preservation.
