Bio

I'm the only daughter of Lloyd L Pope and Myrtle Wright Pope, interested also in Cooper, Phillips, Hall, Williams, and Treadaway lines, from Stewart County in Georgia, Marengo and Walker Counties in Alabama, and Anson County in North Carolina, with more recent generations settling in the Mississippi delta area around the early 1900's. I now live in Western North Carolina. My father was active military and we moved often, so it was only during brief summer visits to Mississippi and Alabama that my brothers Larry, Roy and I were able to get to know extended family or to see where Mom and Dad grew up. I think this inspired a deep commitment to connecting with my own origins, as well as a true compassion for others deeply devoted to honoring the departed and limited by geography. I became involved in genealogy as a hobby in the mid-1980's, collecting my own photos and doing my own research, even spending vacation time talking to distant cousins, visiting local cemeteries, courthouses and public libraries. While the digital age has certainly made things easier, be assured that much of my family info or photos are obtained first-hand or they are carefully vetted. My people deserve no less.
