I now have a Facebook page up and running with my friend Colleen Murdoch of "twistedlimbsandcrookedbranches" which is dedicated to and called "Memorials at Derry City Cemetery".
https://www.facebook.com/MemorialsDCC
This will run along side this Findagrave page and is well worth a visit .

I'm retired and the work that I do is mainly to record all of those who have died and been interred in the Derry City Cemetery, (DCC).
Myself and a Group of 40+ Volunteers have worked along with the Derry City Council and Transcribed all of the DCC records from 1854 – 1961, almost 50,000 records in total. This took us almost three years and we then put those records On Line Free for personal use, not commercial use.
Many of us are also taking photographs of the headstones in the DCC and uploading them to the DCC site on Findagrave and had recorded just over 7,000 with as much detail as possible and 95% photographed.
This work has since been undermined by what can only be described as unscrupulous Findagrave members who have highjacked all of that work transcribing the records and are just dumping them onto the DCC Findagrave site which now has in excess of 23,000 with only 33% photographed and creating many Duplicates containing only the very basic information and worst still they are now holding those records hostage as they are perceived owners.
99.99% of the membership of Findagrave are Friendly, Courteous and Respectful of the other members but unfortunately the 01 % are Hostile, Rude and only there to make themselves look great with the Thousands of records that they have uploaded.
It's impossible for them to maintain this number of records properly.
How can someone who Lives thousands of miles away from a cemetery that they have never even been in, upload in excess of 10,000 records that they cannot even verify to that cemetery.
I have managed to retrieve 6,000 of these records back into local control under my name so if anyone finds a record with my name on it and it's one that you are researching and want just let me know and we'll get it transferred to you.

The work that I do in adding Memorials to this site is in order to record those buried in my local cemeteries.
I spend endless hours walking these cemeteries and photographing the Headstones and were possible I try and check the local cemetery records to confirm that what I'm adding is correct as do other volunteers.

There will be errors as many records are incorrect or have been transcribed wrongly but in most cases the inscription on the actual headstone will be correct as time would have been spent by a Family member in order to get the detail right before having it made.

If you are researching your Family Tree and come across any records that have my name on them then feel free to use my photos and if you want the record transferred to you just get in touch with me and we'll sort out the transfer to you.

Should anyone be upset by any records that I've added or think that I've overstepped the mark, that is not my intention. If you don't like any of the information that's been added just let me know and I will either update the record or delete it.

Please use the edit button for sending any requests for corrections or transfer of ownership.
Should you have any loved ones that you would like me to add just send me their information and I will do so.

My photos may be used for your own personal use without my expressed consent.

You are not permitted to use my photos for commercial usage without by permission.
If you do use my photos, I appreciate a note crediting me with the photo.
