When fulfilling photo requests for hard-to-read gravestones, I avoid using flour or chalk dust. Instead, I rely on a flashlight or sunlight-reflected mirror. Using flour or chalk dust can be disrespectful and may damage older monuments.

I only clean family headstones using water and a soft-bristle brush. Never use household or industrial chemicals. If you wish to clean headstones, consult a professional. D2 is a safe option, but consider the headstone's age and condition.
