Bio

My Great Aunt Bessie Moved to Ouray Colorado in the 1930's. She purchased 22 acres of land on October 20th, 1939. Along with several other business ventures, Bessie also ran a funeral home in Ouray. Instead of placing family members in the Cedar Hii Cemetery outside of Ouray, She chose to bury the family on her private land. The land is located on Dexter creek in Ouray county Colorado. Bessie, upon her death gave the land to my father, Gary Evan McElroy. Upon his death, he gave the property to me.
Bessie died in the 1970's and dad died in the 1990's.
I have continued to bury the family in the cemetery and will continue to do so. Upon my death, my children will continue the tradition. I continue to make improvements to the cemetery daily, as my house sits next to the cemetery. I am 50 years old and have lived in Ouray County for over 25 years.
