Bio

I was born in Quebec City on July 4th, 1944. My father was Émile Cantin (1911-1996), and my mother Maizy Lee (1917-2005), both from Saint-Romuald-d'Etchemin, now part of Lévis, Québec. I lived in Sanmaur (Qc) a small company village founded by the Brown Corporation of Berlin NH (1947-1953)circa 1910, in La Tuque (Upper Mauricie, 1953-1969) and then in Ottawa, Hull- Gatineau (QC) area, and now in Chelsea (QC). I have a son, Olivier, born on December 7th, 1984. Having a Ph. D. in French and Quebec literature, I spent 30 years teaching at the Ottawa University (part time) and the College de l'Outaouais (full time). Retired in 2001, I am now a freelance French linguistics editor and a member of a team publishing the works (short stories, drama plays, pamphlets, novels, correspondance and other texts) of famous Quebec author Jacques Ferron (1921-1985) and I am a contributor to the WEB page dedicated to this great writer, the Voltaire of the Quebec literature. You can learn a lot about this great writer on that page : http://www.ecrivain.net/ferron/.
In the 50's and the 60's a was an avid fan of the hockey team, le Canadien de Montréal, and three of their players : Jacques Plante ( I found his grave in Sierre, Switzerland - see picture), Maurice tne Rocket Richard and prodigious defenseman Doug Harvey. Terry Sawchuk was also another of my favorite ... but he played, at the time, for the Detroit Red Wings !
