Robert G. “Bob” Chilcote, 81, of 15382 Raystown Road, James Creek, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Aug. 22, 1930, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Walter Sr. and Agnes (Kuhn) Chilcote. Mr. Chilcote was united in marriage to Patricia I. (Snyder) Vaughn July 8, 1972, by the Rev. Joan Houck at the Free Methodist Church in Huntingdon. She survives at their home. Mr. Chilcote is survived by his children, Gerald W. Chilcote and his wife, Tricia, of Linden, Va.; Brenda J. Quarry and her husband, Mark, of Huntingdon; and Robert C. Chilcote and his wife, Dawn, of Manassas, Va.; his stepchildren, Robert Vaughn of Tyrone, Rebecca Skipper of Belleville, and Richard Vaughn of Hollidaysburg; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by a brother, Walter Chilcote Jr. and sisters,Betty Biemesderfer, Dot Rinker and Rose Chilcote. Mr. Chilcote was a member of the God’s Missionary Church in Alexandria. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1952 through 1954 as a corporal in the United States Army. Mr. Chilcote worked for 34 and one-half years in the maintenance department at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and six months as a truck driver for Laney’s Feed Mill, Huntingdon. In his spare time, he was also a painting contractor. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Solomon Shaffer officiating. Interment will be in the Old Stone Church Cemetery, James Creek.
