Robert C. Alley, 78, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Oct. 10, 2012, at his residence.

Robert was born Dec. 4, 1933, in Victor, W.Va., son of the late Lester and Russie (Dempsey) Alley. Robert was a graduate of Anstead High School in West Virginia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from 1956-58. He retired from the Celotex Company after 43 years of dedicated service.

Robert was a member of Eagles Aerie 444. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Karen (Jeffrey) Brunner; six grandchildren, Stephanie Parsons, Jennifer (Josh) Pickens, Jessica (fiance, David Best) Brunner, Kerrie (Ryan) Glass, Kellie (Matthew) McClellan and Joseph Brunner; eight great-grandchildren Carl Morehart, Zachery Morehart, Addison Pickens, Aubrynn Glass, Cameron McClellan, Caden McClellan, Carter McClellan and Phoenix Brunner; two brothers, Lewis Alley, of Pickerington, Ohio, and Larry M. Alley, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; his uncle, Pete Keith, of Elyria; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Janet Alley; his son, Robert Michael, his daughter, Rebecca at birth; his parents; sister, Norma Alley; brother, Hugh Alley; and his companion of 20 years, Nora Jordan.

Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, and from 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, until funeral services at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Chaplain Mel Saylor, of Stein Hospice, will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
