She was a Staunton native and a graduate of Stuart Hall and the Maryland Institute of Fine Arts at Baltimore. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Country Club of Virginia, was a former member of Tuckahoe Woman's Club and past president and honorary member of the board of trustees of the Virginia Home.
Surviving are her husband, William T. Steele Jr.; two sons, William T. III and Russell C. Steele, both of Richmond; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 this morning at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, with private burial.
