Maude Alice lived her early life in Newton, Harvey Co., Kansas. In 1937 she attended Emporia State Teachers College with the intention of getting an art degree. Later she married Robert Lee "Bob" Boy the 24th June 1940, in Newton, Kansas - the marriage was later annulled within the year. Maude Alice used her art skills to work for several aircraft manufacturers as a technical illustrator, among them were Culver and Boeing. In 1946 Maude Alice married Alvin Eugene French. The couple lived in Kansas and Nebraska and had 3 children. Maude Alice and Alvin divorced in 1959. Maude Alice continued to work as a technical illustrator for the aircraft industry in Wichita, Kansas until the summer of 1970 when she relocated to Gardner, Massachusetts. There she worked for Simplex Time Recorder Co. as a technical illustrator. She passed away in Ayer, Mass. and was buried along the side of her parents and two sisters in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kansas.
Maude Alice was a talented artist and enjoyed working on various needlework projects. She learned many skills from her mother and could draft clothing patterns, knit almost anything, worked with crochet and embroidery.
At her death Maude Alice was survived by her children, grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. At her death she had one sister and brother living, they have since passed on. She will be missed.
